Mr. Time

Recently Lane surprised me with learning how to tell time on an analog clock. I didn't realize that he was figuring it out. The other day, out of the blue, he said, "Hey, Mom, it's 10 o'clock." I looked at the clock to find that it was 10:15. A few days later I heard him in the kitchen saying, "It's 9 o'clock". So, again I checked to see if he was right. It was a few minutes before 9. Clearly, he is understanding the hour hand. Smart little guy we have here!

The Birthday Girl

Ava turned 3 this past Sunday, Febrauary 1st... Superbowl Sunday. I wonder how often that will happen in her life time?! We were not planning to have a party because we are planning a trip to the Baltimore Aquarium to celebrate. But, she winded up having a small party anyway. My mom is trying to get us all together on the first Sunday of the month, so we just decided to have people here to do a birthday and Superbowl party combo. Fun!

Ava is one special little girl. Her name means "full of life". It seems that this is fitting. She is quite energetic and full of passion. She is a sweet, caring little girl who loves life. She has this sweet little voice that seems to make everyone melt. She is one of those children who seems to quickly make her way into the hearts of others. People are often saying how cute and sweet she is. How delightful for Jeremy and I!

She delights to share with others. Especially gum. She LOVES gum and her joy is not complete until she shares her gum with others. She often will give something to Lane that she knows he would enjoy. Even if it is a toy that she is playing with.

She is a helper. She loves to cook. She is a singer. She loves to pray. She follows detailed instructions very well. She is a girly-girl in many ways, but loves to be rough and wrestle with the boys! She is strong willed. She is a drama queen. She is our Ava and there is no one quite like her! Hasn't God been good to us?!

Ava may be 3, but she is still our baby. We still get to rock her every night at bed time. Mommy sings her songs and Daddy gives her a "scratchy" (backrub) and also hand and feet rub. We plan to do this for as long as she will allow it... for now we can't get away without "rockabye" and we are quite happy about it! Nukie and burper are now reserved for bed time only. This alone feels like an accomplishment. We don't plan to take it away any time soon! :)

Happy 3rd Birthday, Ava Corinne! You bring so much joy to our lives! We adore you!
