Our nephew/cousin is here! We made the trip to Massachusetts on 10/3 to meet him. We were even able to surprise Becky and that was priceless. After all... I owed her something for having my baby on her due date! We could not have planned all this if we tried. From the getting pregnant less than 2 weeks apart, carrying together to full term, me having Calla on Ben's due date and Becky carrying him almost to Calla's due date, and us all being able to be together when Ben was one day old and Calla 11 days old. What a wonderful memory this all makes!

Lane and Ava Meet Calla
September 21, 2009
First thing in the morning, before school, Nana brought Lane and Ava to meet Calla. (Thanks, Mom!) I would have it no other way. They had to be the first ones to meet their little sister. They prayed for her so much. They love her immensely! It took them a little while to warm up, but they were holding her in no time!

Calla Grace has arrived!
September 21, 2009
...After my epidural I got a little nap. Marilyn broke my water and in no time I was 10cm and ready to push. She told me to not bother waiting for a contraction to push. After about 6 pushes the baby was out... Calla Grace was born at 2:20a.m. She weighed 6lb. 9oz. and was 19in. long. They put her on my belly right away. One cannot describe what it is like to finally hold her. I sobbed uncontrollably for a long time and just kept thanking God for this undeserved gift! Her name means protected. God is surely her creator, sustainer, and defender! May He be always glorified through her life! Welcome to our family, Calla Grace. You are very loved!

In Labor!
September 20, 2009
Two weeks early??? I started having contractions wake me up around 2am in the morning. They were coming between 7 and 10 minutes apart and hurt enough to wake me up every time, and eventually got to the point that I didn't sleep in between any more. I waited til Jeremy woke up in the morning to tell him. Contractions slowed down once I was up and about to 15 mins. apart. Nana took Lane and Ava to church, and I was very emotional about being separated from them. I was also getting very freaked out that my labor may be stopping completely. I was actually sobbing hysterically at one point. It all has to do with losing Carina and just wanting to hold my baby NOW...alive! Eventually I got past the hysteria and started cracking the whip. You could barely walk through the nursery and I thought we had better do something about it. (Poor Jeremy!) The contractions picked back up eventually and by 6 o'clock we were headed to the hospital and my midwife Marilyn would meet us there. It was her day off, so she says I picked the right day. (For those of you who don't know... I go to May-Grant. By God's design, Marilyn Derksen wound up delivering Lane and Ava and then promised to deliver all of my kids. How special is that? Love you Marilyn!) I was hurting pretty good by the time we were in there. Not to my surprise I was still only 3 cm. My body just does not like to have babies in a timely manner we have learned! By like 10 or 11pm I was ready for my epidural... sweet dreamy heaven. After I get it I always wonder why I waited so long! Thought we would have a baby on the 20th...
